Master's Comprehensive Outline for 2007-2008 Academic Year
Policies and Procedures:
- All students must take a comprehensive examination.
- To be eligible to take the comprehensive examination, students must:
- Complete all course work, including the mentorship;
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0; and
- Be in good academic standing.
- Master's comprehensive examinations are offered on and off-campus. Students may take the examination on or off-campus.
- On-campus master's degree comprehensives are offered:
- January 10-11, 2008
- July 17-18, 2008
- Off-campus master's degree comprehensive examinations are offered every month except in January and July.
- Students must write the exam long-hand in college blue books.
- Students must use National Collegiate Testing Administration sites.
- Students must apply in the Registrar's Office at least 30 days in advance of the examination and pay a $175 fee.
- For students who appear on the day they registered for and pass the exam, the $175 fee is credited towards the graduation fee.
- Students who fail to appear for the examination on the day they scheduled or fail the examination forfeit their $175 fee.
- Students who fail the examination may register again for a retake, but they must pay another $175 fee. They are only responsible for retaking the portions they failed.
- Students who pass or fail the examination are notified of their results by the Dean of Academics in a letter.
- If a student fails the examination two times, he or she may petition the Academic Committee to take the exam a third time.
- There is an M.S.S. Review Guide that is free and may be downloaded to assist students in preparation for the exam
