United States Sports Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich has been appointed by the Olympic Council of Malaysia as an official Observer to the 25th Southeast Asian Games, also known as the SEA Games, scheduled for 9-18 December 2009 in the capital city of Vientiane, Laos.

United States Sports Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich will present Dr. Zhenliang He, Chairman of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Culture and Olympic Education Commission, a medal of the “Culture Award” medallion, named in the chairman’s honor, on Thursday, 18 June during an IOC Commission meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Sport Artist Commissioned for Cycling Sculpture in New Academy Park

The American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA), a division of the United States Sports Academy, has commissioned Fairhope resident and “Green Artist” Bruce Larsen to craft a sculpture in honor of seven-time Tour de France champion cycler Lance Armstrong. The piece will join three additional Larsen sculptures, already displayed on Academy grounds, as a significant step in the development of a Sport Sculpture Park, continuing the Academy’s dedication to sport art.

Academy Signs Protocol of Cooperation with Renmin University

United States Sports Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich (left) and Dr. Hu Bo (right), International Business Development Director of Renmin University of China, signed an official protocol on the Academy's Daphne, Alabama, campus on Tuesday, 9 June. In the terms of the agreement, Renmin University will send qualified and eligible Chinese students to study in the Academy’s graduate education programs in the discipline of sports management.

Kelsi Dunne Wins Second Straight Academy Alabama Athlete of the Month Award

University of Alabama softball pitcher Kelsi Dunne was named the United States Sports Academy Alabama Athlete of the Month for May, the second month in a row she has earned the honor.

The sophomore became the first to throw back-to-back no-hitters in postseason play as the Crimson Tide swept Jacksonville State with consecutive 9-0 victories in the Super Regionals in Tuscaloosa, earning Alabama its sixth berth in the Women’s College World Series.

Egypt Houses Academy Certification Programs

The United States Sports Academy has signed an agreement with Hassan Kakr, Egypt’s Minister of Sport, and Sherif I. Amin and Raoulf Nour, representatives from Sport Team Enterprises in Giza, to deliver certification programs in the area of sports management and sports coaching. The Academy’s instructional programs are formally known as the International Certification in Sports Management (ICSM) and the International Certification in Sports Coaching (ICSC).
