Dean of Academic Affairs

General Description: The United States Sports Academy, an independent, regionally accredited, and America’s only sports-specific institution of higher learning is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Dean of Academic Affairs. The Dean is the Chief Academic Officer of the institution and a member of the President’s Cabinet. He or she is responsible for planning, curricular development, and general administration of the institution’s Division of Academic Affairs. As approximately 95% of the Academy’s students are distance learners utilizing a computer mediated, asynchronous and transformational program delivery model in a rolling-registration environment, experience in administering academic programs in a non-traditional setting is a must.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in one of the disciplines of Sports (Sports Management preferred), with at least ten (10) years teaching and supervisory administrative experience in higher education and evidence of scholarly production are required. The successful candidate must also possess demonstrable and developed computer skills.


Assistant Librarian - Part Time

General Description: The United States Sports Academy is seeking a flexible part-time assistant librarian who will assist in the planning and implementation of Library activities during assigned hours. The Assistant Librarian will provide student assistance regarding computer usage, literature location, database usage, and reference material. He or she will be responsible for book check-ins and check-outs, overdue books collection of overdue books, proper signature and information of students regarding books. Responsible for organizing books and collection cards for easy location and reference. Assist with annual book inventory annually. Complete search activities for research being conducted by faculty.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Library and information Science. At least 1-2 years in this specific field. A background is sport is desirable. Experience in working with media and proficiency in using a variety of Windows applications is a must. Ability to work independently and initiate projects when necessary, ability to communicate effectively, organizational ability, ability to work under pressure, ability to develop and adhere to deadlines. Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills are required.


Financial Aid Counselor

The United States Sports Academy is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor who is familiar with federal, state, campus-based and VA student financial assistance programs; students' rights and confidentiality of student records.

The successful candidate should be familiar with compliance, administration and financial aid counseling. Responsibilities include Accounts Receivable, as well as administering Title IV Federal Student Financial Assistance programs; Pell Grant; FSEOG Grant; State Grant programs and Stafford loans.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Previous experience in an educational setting preferred, the graduate level is a plus. Strong business, marketing and accounting skills necessary with a minimum of two (2) years experience as a financial aid administrator preferred. Knowledge of federal, state (Alabama preferred), and institutional methods of need analysis and financial aid awarding. Ability to secure necessary security passage with Department of Education is required.
