Sports Diploma Program


The Sports Diploma Program is a unique program of advanced study designed for sports professionals and practitioners who have had extensive experience in sport. In addition to the Certification Program, the Sport Diploma applies an approach that includes a mentorship and a project paper detailing the mentorship experience. This program is ideal for those who desire an in-depth perspective into their particular area of sport. The Sport Diploma Program combines the six courses required in any one of the Certification Programs (sports management and sports coaching) along with additional criteria. Prior to registering for the Sport Diploma Program, students must first complete four of the six courses in either of the following Certification Programs:

Program Specifics

The following requirements must be fulfilled:

Students must declare their intention to participate in the Sport Diploma Program upon registration for either one of the Academy Certification Programs.
• Successful completion of four of six courses included in either sports management or sports certification
• Final grade of 70% or higher (in all six courses)
• Successful completion (70% or higher) of two additional Continuing Education courses
• (students may opt to receive credit by examination only)
• Completion of a mentorship (200 contact hours)
• 10-page, double-spaced paper documenting the mentorship experience
• Time limitation—students have three years to complete the entire program (six courses in the Certification Program and the Sports Diploma Program including additional courses, mentorship and project paper)
• Students may receive credit by examination only. The Sports Diploma Program consists of a total of eight courses (six Certification Program courses and two additional courses), a mentorship and a project paper.

**A $100, one-time processing fee is required prior to registering for the Sports Diploma program. Phone-in registration is required. Please call the Office of Student Services at 1-(800)-223-2668 to register.


Sport Coaching

In addition to the six courses included in the Sport Coaching Program, students are required to take two more courses from the sports coaching course offerings. The Academy recommends the following sport-specific courses:

Sport Management
